Leading Women Awards Wowed the crowd

Yesterday, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts honored five role models at the 22nd annual Leading Women Awards Breakfast, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston. Honorees included Helen G. Drinan, President, Simmons College; Denise Kaigler, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs & Communications at Boston Scientific Corporation; Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder & CEO, Care.com; Joyce Maroney,Senior Director, Customer Experience & Services Marketing Kronos, Inc.; and Leading Man, the Honorable Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of Boston.

Each of the five honorees was paired with a Girl Scout who has similar interests or career aspirations, and who introduced the honoree and presented the award at the breakfast. The 600 guests and honorees were amazed by the poise and career aspirations the girls showed as they spoke infront of the large audience. Denise Kaigler told the crowd that she just loved Girl Scout Audrey Serna and Mayor Menino told the audience that he was amazed by his girl presenter DeShawna Green. This was even after she claimed to know why Mayor Menino was so successful: because he has his wife and granddaughters–all proud Girl Scout alumnae–to learn from!

A special thanks to our many sponsors and Girl Scout supporters who attended this great ceremony.
