Our CEO, Pat Parcellin, was recently invited to record a segment for Comcast Newsmakers. Pat filled host Jenny Johnson in on the latest happenings and initiatives at GSEM, including the Girl Scout Cookie Program, Cookies for a Cause, the upcoming Volunteer Toolkit and much more.
Pat spoke about the importance of getting girls engaged in STEM and how events such as our annual STEM Conference match experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math with Girl Scouts to provide hands-on learning experiences and inspiration.
She also explained the benefits of camping and outdoor adventure, which allow “girls to gain more skills around working together, working through conflict.” Whether a girl is camping for the first time or not, Pat believes “knowing that she can do it on her own provides courage and confidence.”
