Meet Boston Marathon Team Girl Scouts runner, Brittany Baltay!

As a Massachusetts native, the Boston Marathon has always been a dream of mine. Watching my mom run in 2001, I was inspired by her strength, dedication, and courage. My time has come, and I am ready to tackle the challenge of the Boston Marathon. I am so grateful and honored to run in 2018 for GSEMA!

I was a Girl Scout from kindergarten to my senior year of high school. In addition to earning badges and meeting some of my best friends, I loved all of the activities that Girl Scouts facilitated. I always enjoyed both the annual camp-out and the annual pancake breakfast. These events were special to me because they revolved around community and sharing.

My many years as a Girl Scout were formative to my development. I became a strong leader of character and accomplished several goals. I believe strongly in women’s rights and empowerment. As an adult, I see how Girl Scouts empowers girls to be strong, confident, and capable.

I am running to make it possible for girls to have opportunities to develop, learn, and grow, just like I did years ago. I’m excited to support the GSEMA health and wellness initiatives. It is so important to be active and to teach young girls that they can do anything they set their minds to! I am so happy that Girl Scouts strongly believes in this.

I am a go-getter. I am a driven and passionate person, and when I put my mind to something I know I can accomplish it!

We love Brittany’s enthusiasm and passion for girl leadership development! Support Brittany, and healthy Girl Scout programming, on the road to the Boston Marathon!
