London, Paris, Barcelona… Troop 65007 from Medford, seven Girl Scouts and four moms, recently embarked on a European adventure of a lifetime! The girls had their minds set on this trip for years, and hit the ground running to raise the necessary funds—the trip was made possible in large part by the Girl Scout Cookie Program!
Each day of their trip was packed with exciting activities. In London they visited Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and Covent Garden. In Paris, they cruised along the Seine River, visited the Louvre, explored Versailles, and spent time in the Latin Quarter. Then, they enjoyed the beaches of Barcelona and toured the Sagrade Familia.
“My favorite experiences were seeing a production of Kinky Boots and learning flamenco,” says Jen. She also loved exploring Barcelona and talking with the locals, which gave her a new outlook on the city.
A few years ago, after using their cookie program earnings to fund a weekend in New York, the troop was inspired to dream bigger. They had their hearts set on Europe, and began two years of preparation and fundraising to make their overseas dream a reality.
“This trip was absolutely amazing and life changing,” says Jackie. “If your troop has the opportunity to sell cookies and raise money, take advantage of it! Traveling the world teaches you so much about yourself and the world around you. It also uncovers some of you interests that you may not have known you had and brings you closer to your fellow Girl Scouts.”
“Anything is possible,” Marianne echoes. “You just need to put the work in and keep your eye on the goal.”
The Fall Product Program begins September 21, and cookie season is approaching in early December! Get your troop in on the action to fund amazing adventures and experiences that will stick with them forever.
So amazing! My Senior troop is going to London, Paris, Rome & Florence in July. There aren’t many left at this point (4 girls going) but they have worked hard for this over the past 3 years. Thanks for sharing your adventures. We’re very excited.
