We’re rooting for Jesalyn Miscioscia, a member of GSEMA’s 2019 Boston Marathon Team! A Girl Scout alum, Jesalyn hails from Swampscott and is a health coach for Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Through Girl Scouts, Jesalyn first discovered her love of nature. “One of my favorite memories that I have as a Girl Scout was a weekend when we went away for a camping trip,” Jesalyn says. “All my best friends were there and we had so much fun sharing a tent together. It was the first time that I was far away from my family.”
To this day, she continues to find peace in the outdoors, especially when exploring local parks with her dog and husband.
Jesalyn started running in high school and loved the way it made her feel. She continued jogging for fun through college and nursing school. “Overall I run for myself and for my health,” Jesalyn says.
Her sister convinced her to take up road racing in 2015. Jesalyn has since completed the South Shore and Plymouth half marathons, multiple 5K races, and a 10-mile road race. The 2019 Boston Marathon will be her first attempt to conquer the infamous 26.2 mile course.
“I was inspired to join Team Girl Scouts as my way of giving back to the fond memories that I have as a Girl Scout growing up.” Jesalyn says. “My goal for this race is to challenge myself and to complete the race.”
Her running philosophy evokes her words of wisdom for today’s Girl Scouts: “Be kind to yourself.”
We can’t wait to cheer on Amanda as she runs for Team Girl Scouts! Join us in supporting Jesalyn as she takes on the Boston Marathon and raises money for girls who would not otherwise have access to Girl Scouts, the premier leadership development organization for girls.
