There are so many ways to embrace the outdoors as a troop! Recently, Girl Scout Cadette Troop 75447 from Ayer went backpacking through the White Mountains to Franconia Notch. After hiking up, they stayed in Appalachian Mountain Club’s Hut on Lonesome Lake. The girls carried all their gear, and braved a muddy bog and cold lake. They even saw a moose and her calf!
All but one were experiencing a hiking trip like this for the first time. “It was so fun to see their reluctance turn to enjoyment and confidence,” says Kristin, a troop volunteer.
Sandra, another volunteer with the troop added, “With leaders that strive to listen and assist the girls, and parents who volunteer to help out as well, Girl Scouts can do anything.”
We are so grateful for all of our volunteers who are supporting girls as they brave new adventures and forge their own paths—all while having so much fun with their Girl Scout sisters.
